Timothy J. Miranda, Founder/President of Cam-shield Lubricants

Tim is an alumnus of Lehigh University, B.S.- Chemical Engineering and Union College, M.S. - Mechanical Engineering. His professional background includes various chemical/mechanical engineering positions in the oil/chemical industry, including 10+ years with a major oil company as a Senior Race Oil and Field Test Engineer.

Tim's background and experience includes:

  • Field testing of gasoline and diesel engine oils
  • Race oil formulation
  • Testing of fuel additives, gear oil, brake and transmission fluids
  • Specialized testing to support product claims
  • OEM technical assistance
  • New product development
  • Creation and delivery of motor oil technical training programs
  • Automotive and Racing media support (TV, magazine, internet)
  • Engineering support for technical service inquiries from clients and customers

Tim developed a passion for racing, classic cars and building engines at an early age. Tim's experience includes building pro-stock race engines and transmissions, working on and owning classic cars and working with race teams at the national and championship level. His hands-on experience and educational/technical background have made him a sought after professional in the world of automobiles and racing. Tim has been featured as a judge/expert on numerous TV shows including "Drag Race High", (Speed Channel) and "Car Wars" (ESPN2). Tim is regularly sought after as a technical reference for national publications and is relied upon to give his opinion regarding lubricants and their applications in the automotive and racing industries. Tim has made videos for Advance Auto™ on oils, transmissions fluids and filters that are seen regularly in the stores and on their website. Tim is frequently asked to speak with professionals in the industry and to the public in an effort to educate them about oils and their affect on engines.

Tim is a member of the STLE (Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers), SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), and is a voting member of the ASTM (American Society of Testing Materials) Engine Sequence Surveillance Panel. Tim has previously been a member of AICHE (American Institute of Chemical Engineers) and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers).
